Need help setting up ireef on iphone

Postby wfgworks on Fri Apr 30, 2010 6:18 pm

Ok, just got a new iphone this week but havent had any luck getting ireef to sync with my RKE.

I'm able to access my net module from a remote site so all is good there. Can someone help with what I need to put in ireef for everything to work.

Thanks,

Bill

Hi Bill.

For version 1.2 of iReef you need to put in a URL something like this:

http://your.ipaddress.com/rss/rss.xml

where your.ipaddress.com can either be a dynamic dns name or it can be a fixed IP address if your ISP gives you one.

Make sure to append /rss/rss.xml on the end.

I'm updating the version 1.3 so you don't need to put the /rss/rss.xml on the end. I plan to post the updated 1.3 to Apple in the next day.

TreverW

When I add the rss/rss.xlm to the end of my address, I get a failed messaging saying unable to reach the server or parse the RSS File.

When I wasnt adding the rss/rss.xlm, it would load but wouldnt show anything.

I connect to the controller remotely by going to billsreeftank.hobby-site.com

If you forward to a port, you might need to put that at the end of the URL, example: http://myreef123.com:80/rss/rss.xml, replace the 80 with whatever port you are forwarding for the NET module. In your case, it may be something like: http://billsreeftank.hobby-site.com:80/rss/rss.xml . Hope this helps.

Edit: the URL I used with your address actually took me right to your RSS feed, so input that in your iReef settings.

Hi Bill,

I put http://billsreeftank.hobby-site.com/rss/rss.xml into my phone and it worked fine. Make sure you didn't type something wrong.

Just upgraded to ireef 1.3 and it seems it's asking me for the host name and ip I don't remember where I can find this, would it be on the rke net website? Wish during the upgrade for 1.3 it would have remember that info

the hostname would be the address you use to access the RSS feed such as mytank.hobbysite.org or whatever, when you say IP, I believe you mean the port needed to access it from outside your home network, such as 80, 8080, or whatever you used.

iPhone 4G supposedly.http://gizmodo.com/5520164/this-is-apples-next-iphone. Might be somewhat delayed though, Apple was rather PO'd about this.
